🏡 Stay‑at‑Home Breaks (Because Sometimes You Just Want Cosy)

The Lake District

My favourite place, other than Yorkshire! February is moody, dramatic, and perfect for long walks followed by pub fires. Best for: Hiking, photography, slow travel.

Edinburgh

A brilliant city break without leaving the UK. Museums, cafés, cobbled streets, and that castle view. Best for: Culture, food, easy travel.

Cornwall

Wild beaches, coastal walks, and surprisingly good winter deals. Best for: Relaxing, sea air, cute villages.

A UK Spa Break

If you only have a couple of days, a spa break is the ultimate teacher reset. Best for: Switching off, recharging, not thinking about school. Operators: SpaSeekers, Secret Escapes, Champneys.

Yorkshire Dales
Crisp mornings, rolling hills, and cosy stone villages, February in the Dales is pure comfort. Think pub lunches, scenic drives, and bracing walks that make the hot chocolate taste even better.
Best for: Countryside escapes, dog‑friendly breaks, peaceful weekends.

Peak District
A beautiful national park with dramatic landscapes and charming market towns. February is quiet, perfect for scenic hikes, cave visits, and warming up in traditional inns.
Best for: Walking, photography, budget‑friendly UK breaks.

Bath
A gorgeous Georgian city that feels made for winter. Roman Baths, rooftop spas, boutique cafés, and pretty streets to wander even on chilly days.
Best for: Spa breaks, culture, romantic weekends.

Northumberland Coast
Huge beaches, castles, and big skies, winter here feels wild and wonderful. February is perfect for peaceful walks, stargazing, and exploring places like Bamburgh and Alnwick.
Best for: Space, scenery, coastal adventures.

Isle of Wight

A short ferry ride but feels like a proper escape. Quiet beaches, coastal paths, and cute towns make it a lovely winter break without the crowds.
Best for: Families, gentle walks, relaxed UK holidays.
