First Impressions of Seville
We docked in Cadiz, then after crossing the new Cadiz bridge, the drive took around one hour and twenty minutes. As soon as I arrived, Seville felt different. The city is full of history and incredible architecture, yet it still works as a real, everyday place. It is clean, friendly and full of life. People were welcoming and the whole city had a relaxed, sunny energy that instantly made us feel at home.
Wandering Through the City
I had no plan at all this time. So we simply walked and let Seville reveal itself. Every corner seemed to offer something beautiful. The cathedral towered above the streets and the government buildings looked like something from a film set. I passed parks filled with palm trees, fountains and bright spring flowers.
Plaza de España was the highlight. The sweeping architecture, the tiled bridges and the Venice style canal were unforgettable. Watching people row gently along the water made the whole place feel magical.
Tapas, Coffee and Sunshine
Seville has a strong pavement culture. Tapas bars spill out onto the streets and people sit for hours enjoying the sunshine. We stopped for coffee and croissants at a lovely bakery cafe and it was one of my favourite moments of the day. Later we had lunch in a busy tapas spot. It was slightly expensive but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was worth every penny.
I also noticed long queues outside the bullring and lots of people enjoying the riverside area, from taking photos riding bikes, school excursions and boat rides. Even the busiest parts of the city felt calm and welcoming.
Why I Would Return in a Heartbeat
Seville might be the most interesting and beautiful Spanish city I have visited. The mix of history, colour, culture and warmth is something special. The parks and all public spaces were beautifully maintained. I would recommend visiting in Spring or Autumn because the summer heat must be intense.
A single day was not enough, but what a day it was. Seville completely stole my heart and I would go back without hesitation.
